| dc.description.abstract | Endophytic bacteria are bacteria that live inside plant tissues without causing any symptoms. Endophytic bacteria may produce bioactive compound such as antimicrobial substances. Isolation of endophytic bacteria from aloe (Aloe vera (L.) Burm.f.) was performed using Nutrient Agar. Antimicrobial test of endophytic bacteria isolate using Muller Hinton Agar against four species of human pathogenic microbes, Escherichia coli, Pseudomonas aeruginosa, Staphylococcus aureus and Candida albicans has been conducted. Potential endophytic bacterial isolates in inhibiting test microbes were measured their growth using Nutrient Broth using spectrophotometer. Culture supernatants were obtained using centrifuge at either mid log and early stationary phase. The supernatants were tested to know their potential to inhibit the test microbes. Identification of potential endophytic bacteria isolates in inhibiting the test microbes were conducted molecularly. Fifteen isolates were obtained from leaves, stem and roots of aloe. Antimicrobial test showed the endophytic bacterial isolates inhibit the test microbe with inhibition zone between 6,2 to 24,5 mm. LB 04 and LB 07 isolated from stem, LB 13 isolated from roots, LB 14 and LB 15 isolated from leaves demonstrated to inhibit more of the test microbes. Supernatant of the five isolates were tested for their antimicrobial activities. LB 04 and LB 14 supernatants showed to inhibit more of the test microbes. 16S rRNA gene sequence of LB 04 and LB14 showed that they were closely related to Enterobacter sp. enrichment culture clone HSL36 and Pseudomonas sp. Z79 with 91% and 78% similarity, respectively. | en_US |
