Flooding is a frequently occurring natural disaster that can cause significant economic damage and loss of life. To mitigate the impact of this disaster, a system capable of quickly and accurately identifying the type of flood is needed. This study aims to develop a flood type determination system using a forward chaining inference method. The system developed in this study utilizes historical and real-time data on environmental parameters such as rainfall, water level, water flow velocity, and soil conditions. Based on this data, the system will infer the type of flood that is occurring or likely to occur, such as flash floods, tidal floods, and surface floods. The forward chaining method is used in this system to generate decisions based on predefined rules. These rules are formulated based on expert knowledge and relevant literature. The inference process begins by gathering existing facts and then iteratively applying the appropriate rules until a conclusion regarding the type of flood is reached. From these variables, the final value (R) is produced which is the output for determining flooding which has an accuracy level of 100% between Excel (manual) and system calculations.
