    Abstract
In this research, morphology, crystal structure and reflection loss (RL) have been synthesized and characterized, which shows how effectively the material can absorb microwaves from BaFe12O19/Co3O4 material using the mechanical alloying method, calcined at a temperature of 1000oC for 2 hours. Morphology, crystal structure, and reflection loss were characterized using Scanning Electron Microscope and Energy Despersive X-ray (SEM-EDX), X-ray Diffraction (XRD), Vector Network Analyzer (VNA). The synthetic raw materials used are BaFe12O19 and Co3O4 with variations in Co3O4 composition of 10%, 15% and 20% wt%. The results of XRD analysis show that the more Co3O4 added causes an increase in crystal diameter. SEM analysis results show that BaFe12O19 particles tend to form larger clumps or groups together with Co3O4 particles caused by agglomeration. EDX shows that as the percentage of Co3O4 increases, the number of Fe atoms decreases while the number of Co atoms increases, indicating that Co ions replace Fe ions. Then the results of the VNA analysis showed that the addition of 10% Co3O4 composition had optimum absorption compared to other samples with a reflection loss of -22.7dB at a frequency of 10.88 GHz with an absorption percentage of 99.46%.
