    Abstract
In transmission lines, corona discharge has become one of the main issues causing power outages in our society, and it is important to pay attention to this phenomenon called corona. Corona is a discharge phenomenon caused by increased air ionization along the conductor. Calculations are performed using the mathematical methods of Peek and Peterson. This study aims to analyze the power loss caused by corona in transmission lines in mountainous and urban areas and to compare the two calculation methods. Technical data from PT PLN UP2B Sumbagut and temperature data from The Weather Channel website are used to calculate the power loss due to corona. The Research results show that the power loss due to corona is greatest in the mountainous area (Titikuning-Berastagi) compared to the urban area (Binjai-Payageli). This is because the air pressure in the mountainous region is lower, resulting in more humid conditions, which leads to a higher corona power loss. The magnitude of corona loss in a transmission line is influenced by factors such as temperature, air pressure, line length, phase spacing, and conductor diameter. Calculations using the Peterson method are simpler compared to the Peek method; however, the Peterson method is more accurate than the Peek method
