A Description of Figurative Language in Little Mix’s Get Weird Album

Abstract

This research is entitled "A Description of Figurative Language in Little Mix's Get Weird Album". This study aims to describe the use of figurative language in the lyrics of songs contained in the album "Get Weird" by Little Mix. Furthermore, this research uses a qualitative method. Then, to find out the types of figurative language contained in the song, using the theory of Keraf (2004) to describe the meaning of each type of figurative language found. There are two types of research objectives set, namely to identify the types of figurative language used in the song and to describe the function of figurative language in Little Mix song lyrics. This research focuses on 6 types of figurative language that will be examined in Little Mix song lyrics namely, simile, metaphor, personification, hyperbole, paradox and irony. It can be concluded that figurative language plays an important role in a song. Song lyrics must have something unique and catch the listener's attention. This is one of the important things.
