Research on zeolite-activated charcoal based adsorbent of kepok banana peel as seawater reducer has been conducted. Zeolite as matrix and kepok banana peel activated charcoal as filler with powder size of 149 μm (100 mesh). The zeolite matrix was chemically activated using 1 M H2SO4 solution at 80℃ for 2 hours. After the zeolite pH was neutral, it was dried at 100℃ for 1 hour. The zeolites were tested by XRF both before and after chemical activation. The Si/Al value increased after the zeolite was chemically activated. Meanwhile, kepok banana peel activated carbon filler was carbonized at 350℃ for 30 minutes. The adsorbent was printed using a hydraulic press with a mass load of 6 tons for 10 minutes, with variations in the composition of zeolite:kepok banana peel activated carbon, namely 75%: 25%, 80%: 20%, 85%: 15%, 90%: 10%, 95%: 5%, 0%: 100%, 100%: 0%. The adsorbent was physically activated at 600℃ for 4 hours. The adsorbents were characterized for their physical properties to determine porosity, density and water absorption, mechanical properties to determine hardness, SEM-EDS, XRD, FTIR, and BET. The results of the physical characteristics (porosity, and water absorption), the value of the Si/Al ratio in the SEM-EDS test, the surface area and pore size in the BET test increased as the kepok banana peel activated carbon filler increased with the optimum value obtained at 80%: 20% composition. The hardness and density values decreased with the increase of kepok banana peel activated carbon filler. O-H (3200-3700 cm-1), C-H (1340-1470 cm-1), TO4[SiO4] (1000-1100 cm-1) functional groups were formed on the adsorbent. The resulting diffraction pattern in the range 2... = 25° − 30° in all variations of adsorbent composition is amorphous. The results of the adsorbent application test as a seawater salinity reducer showed that the adsorbent was able to reduce the salinity value of seawater with a percentage efficiency of reducing seawater salinity of 28.91% at 80%: 20% compositionen_US
