dc.description.abstractThe rights and obligations of each individual have a value that corresponds to their social status. In the context of education, students' social background plays a significant role in addition to their learning achievement. Privilege, the social privilege that a person or a group of people have from helicopter parents, can affect students' opportunities for justice at school. In addition, belief in a just world (BJW) on a personal and general level affects students' responses to adverse events and their views on justice in society. This study aims to look at the influence of socioeconomic status on the privileges obtained by Medan public school students. The research method used is quantitative with data collection techniques through questionnaires. The population in this study was 123 respondents at 4 public high schools in Medan city. The questionnaire distribution has been tested for validity and reliability using simple random sampling technique. The results of the research analysis using Spearman correlation between socioeconomic status (SSE) variables and student privilege have a significant value of 0.000 ˂ 0.05 which means that there is an influence on each indicator of the SSE variable and the student privilege variable, which means that H0 is rejected and H1 is accepted or there is a significant influence between SSE on student privilege in Medan city. From the results of this study, it was also found that the average level of socioeconomic status of respondents on student privilege was in the medium category. The difference in treatment of teachers or school employees to some students with high SES makes other students feel injustice.en_US
