    Abstract
Nitrogen-Doped Carbon dots are fluorescent nanoparticles that can be synthesized from biomass. Jackfruit peel is a biomass waste containing 42.20% carbon which can be used as a precursor to synthesis carbon dots and ethylenediamine (EDA) as a nitrogen dopant with EDA variations of 5,10,15% v/v. Synthesis using the hydrothermal method at 180oC for 12 hours. This research aims to analyze the effectiveness of Rhodamine B photodegradation using N-CDs material under 8 watt UV light radiation with varying exposure times of 2, 3 and 4 hours. The characteristics of CDs and N-CDs were analyzed using UV lamps, UV-vis spectrophotometry, PL, FTIR, TEM. The results of this research show that CDs and N-CDs were successfully synthesis from blue fluorescence under 365 nm UV lamp. UV-Vis spectrophotometric analysis, CDs have an absorbance peak of 235 nm and N-CDs 244 nm. PL analysis shows that the addition of dopant can increase the emission of CDs and N-CDs from 492 nm to 494 nm with a quantum yield of 5.30% and 7.37%. TEM analysis produced spherical particles with an average diameter of 8.51 nm. FTIR analysis of CDs shows the presence of O-H, C=O groups, while N-CDs contain O-H, N-H, C=C, C-N and C- O. The results of photodegradation analysis of Rhodamin B from Uv-Vis data show the highest percentage of degradation, namely at a time variation of 4 hours of 12,1%.
