In the fourth point of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), there is an
emphasis on the importance of quality education to ensure that all individuals have
access to inclusive and equitable education. People with visual impairments, as a
group experiencing visual impairment, often face challenges in accessing literacy,
such as limited access to expensive Braille literacy resources, a lack of Indonesianlanguage
audiobooks as alternatives, and difficulties in reading Braille characters.
In an effort to address these issues, the Literaku application was developed as an
Android-based solution aimed at improving independent literacy for people with
visual impairments. This application utilizes Google Cloud APIs to receive,
process, and execute voice commands from users. This research was conducted to
implement Pure Data, which can enrich the user experience by providing more
dynamic audiovisual interactions. For example, Pure Data can be used to create
more complex and varied sound effects, such as realistic environmental sounds
when opening a book within the application. Additionally, with Pure Data, the
application can provide real-time audio feedback as users interact with various
features, such as providing different sounds for each pressed button or selected
menu. The research also includes data and results from testing using User
Acceptance Testing (UAT) and usability testing to assess the necessity of Pure Data
in enhancing the interaction between users and the application. Thus, users will be
more engaged and feel connected to the Literaku application, improving the overall
quality of the user experience.
