    Abstract
This research is entitled "Analysis of the Use of Journalistic Language in Tribunmedan.com Criminal News". The research method is descriptive qualitative. The aim of the research is to determine the use of journalistic language in crime news on Tribunmedan.com. The theories used are mass communication theory, news, and journalistic language. This research analyzes crime news texts in the Christmas and New Year editions of the city of Medan (25-26 December 2023 and 1 January 2024). Data collection techniques in this research are observation, interviews, documentation and literature study. Content analysis is used as a data analysis technique. To produce credible interviews, source triangulation is used to test the validity of the data. The source triangulation in this research is the Medan Tribune coverage coordinator. The results of the research show that based on the characteristics stated by Haris Sumadiria, the use of journalistic language in Tribunmedan.com crime news is quite good. However, there are still inconsistencies in the characteristics or characteristics of journalistic language in the 9 (nine) news stories used as data in this research, including discrepancies in the aspects of short, concise, straightforward, clear, grammatical, correct choice of words (diction), prioritizing active sentences, avoiding technical words or terms and are subject to ethical rules. Among the several discrepancies in the characteristics of journalistic language that researchers found, the most frequent one was typing errors (obvious aspect).
