dc.description.abstractThis paper explains the relationship between the patrilineal system and gender equality in the Batak Toba society. Where men are most dominant compared to women because according to ancestral rules that men will carry the descendants of the clan from the father. The method used in this research is qualitative descriptive to find out the data by reading the data, describing the data that has been collected, and drawing conclusions. The results of this paper explain the patriarchal system adopted by the Batak Toba society and ideas to help overcome the impact of patriarchy so that women can do activities according to their abilities.en_US
