dc.description.abstract | This paper describes the conflict of the main characters’ in Oppenheimer movie and explain what happened behind the story. The director Sam Mendes was interested in adapting the 2005 Oppenheimer biography American Prometheus by Kai Bird and Martin J. Sherwin. After that project failed to materialize, the book was optioned by various filmmakers over the next fifteen years. The purpose of this study is to focuses on two types of conflicts in the movie: Internal conflicts and External conflicts. This paper also focuses on two characters from the movie: J. Robert Oppenheimer and Kitty Oppenheimer. Both of them were married couple that torn between politic, relationship and social expectations. Including, Robert’s ethical concerns about the bomb’s destructive, personal responsibility also moral challenges through the society he faced. This research uses a descriptive qualitative method by collecting data and finding related information from films, books, articles and journals found on the internet. The conclusion of this paper is for showing how both of them managed their conflicts and problems with each other between, Oppenheimer and Kitty. | en_US |
