    Abstract
Background:The Puguntano herb ethanolic extract (EEHP) is identified to possess the cardioprotective properties due to its secondary metabolites. The antioxidant properties of EEHP possessing a significant role in cardioprotective activity in mice which were induced by doxorubicin and resulted in the influence on SOD and LDH levels. Research Objectives: this research aimed to observe the effect of EEHP on SOD and LDH levels in mice which were induced by doxorubicin. Method: The 70% ethanol extract of Puguntano herb was obtained by using the maceration method. Thirty-five rats were divided into seven groups: (1) Normal; (2) Quercetin 50 mg/kg BW; (3) Doxorubicin 10 mg/kg BW; (4) EEHP 400 mg/kg BW; (5) EEHP 200 mg/kg BW; (6) EEHP 100 mg/kg BW; (7) EEHP 50 mg/kg BW was given orally for 9 days. On days 8 and 9, doxorubicin 10mg/kg BW was given. The rats blood was taken for serum collection. Serum was then measured by using Enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay. The Data analysis was carried out by using SPSS version 22. The significance value of p<0.05 was considered significant. Results: the statistical results showed that the 400 mg/kg BW dose and the 200 mg/kg BW dose were not able yet to increase the SOD levels as much as the 50 mg/kg BW. And the dose of 200 mg/kg BW possessed the same activity as the dose of 400 mg/kg BW. On the LDH, the statistical results showed that the dose of 400 mg/kg BW was significantly different from the 50 mg/kg BW quercetin group. And this was the best dose in reducing LDH levels in rats which were induced by doxorubicin. Conclusion: EEHP is able to increase the SOD levels and reduce the LDH levels in male rats induced by doxorubicin.
