Pemanfaatan Limbah Plastik Polyethilene Terephthalate (PET) Sebagai Substitusi Agregat Kasar pada Beton SCC
Abstract Final Project: Utilization of Polyethilene Terephthalate (PET) Plastic Waste as a Substitution for Coarse Aggregat in SCC Concrete
Abstract
Plastic waste in Indonesia is a significant environmental problem. Each year, the amount of plastic waste continues to increase. One alternative to reduce plastic waste in Indonesia is by utilizing it in the construction field for beneficial infrastructure development. Specifically, we can use polyethylene terephthalate (PET) plastic waste as a constituent material in Self-Compacting Concrete (SCC). In this study, PET is used as a substitute for coarse aggregate, with variations of 0%, 5%, 10%, 15%, and 20% by weight. The testing conducted includes fresh concrete tests (slump flow, L-shape box, V-funnel) and hardened concrete tests (compressive strength and split tensile strength) using cylindrical specimens with a diameter of 15 cm and height of 30 cm. The results indicate that the slump flow and L-shape box values decrease as the PET substitution percentage increases. Conversely, the v-funnel value increases with higher PET substitution. The compressive strength values for the various PET percentages are as follows: 23.53 MPa (0%), 21.79 MPa (5%), 21.19 MPa (10%), 20.19 MPa (15%), and 16.87 MPa (20%). Additionally, the split tensile strength values are 2.63 MPa (0%), 2.07 MPa (5%), 1.83 MPa (10%), 1.56 MPa (15%), and 1.44 MPa (20%)
