    Abstract
Plastic has become an inseparable material of human daily life. Plastic waste has increased significantly in recent decades. Plastic waste has properties that are very difficult to decompose which has a negative impact on the environment, which has become a serious problem in a global context. One of the alternatives to plastic waste management that can be applied in the world of civil engineering is by reusing plastic waste as aggregate in the manufacture of lightweight bricks. This study aims to determine the effect of utilizing polyethylene terephthalate (PET) plastic waste as a partial substitution of aggregate in the manufacture of lightweight bricks on compressive strength, content weight and water absorption. In this study, the ratio of cement and sand is 1: 1.5 with a lightweight brick size of 600 mm x 200 mm x 100 mm and the PET variations used are 0%, 10%, 20%, 30%, 40%, and 50% of the aggregate weight. The tests carried out refer to SNI 8640-2018. The compressive strength test results of the variations are 0.983 MPa; 0.733 MPa; 0.683 MPa; 0.6 MPa; 0.516 MPa; and 0.43 MPa, respectively. The results of oven dry weight content are 822.9 kg/m3; 775 kg/m3; 765.3 kg/m3; 750.3 kg/m3; 748.1 kg/m3 and 746.6 kg/m3 respectively. As for the water absorption test results, they are 12.83%; 13.5%; 14.975%; 18.21%; 19.93%; and 23.79%, respectively. This type of lightweight brick can be used as insulation and aesthetics
