    Abstract
One tool that is widely used in the inhalation method is the inhaler. The use of inhalers requires proper coordination techniques to reduce the occurrence of drug buildup (deposit) in the mouth and respiratory tract. Drug buildup causes less drug to enter the lungs. Spacers can be used to overcome coordination problems when using inhalers by reducing deposits in the mouth and delivering more medication into the lungs. Based on observation, it was found that the majority of inhaler users do not use spacers. This study aims to overcome the accumulation of drugs that result in a lack of effectiveness of drug delivery in the inhalation method by providing alternative spacers that have a design that uses less space while still considering increasing lung faal capacity. The method used in this study is to measure lung function capacity using peak expiratory flow (PEF) parameters. The research subjects were asthma patients at XYZ Medan Hospital, namely 32 respondents. Based on the results of the study there is a significant effect on the value of Peak Expiratory Flow (PEF) when before (PreInhalation) and after the treatment of drug administration through the inhaler- EMSD portable spacer (PostInhalation) with an increase of 23.03%. This increase is higher than the existing spacer which is 21.82%. The EMSD portable spacer developed also has a smaller volume and dimensions than the available spacers and has a folding mechanism so that it is easier to carry for inhaler users
