    Abstract
The volume of global waste is increasing rapidly, even faster than the rate of urbanization. This research aims to reduce building waste through optimal combustion in incinerators. This study focuses on burning building waste. The building industry is a major waste generator, generating around 1.3 billion tons of solid waste per year. Building waste has a negative impact on the environment if not managed properly. One method of handling waste is incineration, which requires controlling the burning process to prevent pollution. This research uses an incinerator with a palm oil shell biomass burner to reduce the use of fuel oil. Researchers have previously designed and tested incinerators that use general waste and palm oil shells as fuel. However, this research uses building waste as the material to be burned. This research analyzes the optimal addition of air from the incinerator, the temperature achieved in burning waste, and the DRE of the incinerator. The test was carried out by burning 12 kg of building waste within 90 minutes with different excess water. The research results showed that the combustion residue at 20% and 30% excess air was 13% and 12%, and the highest DRE (Destruction Removal Efficiency) was obtained at 30% excess air, namely 88%. The study also found that using 30% excess water is more optimal in reducing waste. In conclusion, this research provides a solution for managing building waste through optimal combustion in incinerators. The findings of this research can help reduce the negative impact of construction waste on the environment and encourage sustainable waste management practices
