    Abstract
Zakat is one of the pillars of Islam and an instrument in Islamic economics that has great potential in its utilization. However, the non-optimal collection of zakat needs to be addressed immediately in order to maximize its potential. This study aims to identify and investigate construct variables that affect zakat collection through statistical analysis using Structural Equation Modeling (SEM) method and AMOS software. This study collected 200 data from respondents who live and distribute their zakat in the North Sumatra region using a Likert scale in a score scale of 1 to 5. The construct variables analyzed consist of institutions, motivation and realization of zakat, each construct has more than two indicators. The analysis result shows that the indicators of each construct have good validity and accurate to measure the construct. The construct variables analyzed have a strong correlation to the indicators as a measuring tool and go in the same direction. This means that any increase in the value of the indicator will increase the construct variable, and vice versa. The research shows that the motivation variable significantly affects the realization of zakat by 0,749 with a p-value of 0,02. While the institution is proven not to significantly affect the realization of zakat with a p-value of 0,42.
