    Abstract
    This research was carried out from October to December 2023 at the Physiology Laboratory and Experimental Animal House, FMIPA USU. This study aims to analyze the effect of the sirih cina leaf extract on improving the morphology and histology of the kidneys of mice (Mus musculus L.) exposed by the cigarette smoke. This research used an experimental method with a Completely Randomized Design (CRD) consisting of two control and four treatments with four replications each. These are negative control (normal); positive control (exposure to cigarette smoke and given vitamin C), treatment only exposed to cigarette smoke; and exposure to cigarette smoke and sirih cina leaf extract at doses of 50, 70 and 90 mg/kgBW. This research used 24 male rats as sampels The research observed the kidney morphology including shape, color, texture and weight, as well as the histology including glomerular area, the proximal tubular narrowing also kidney necrosis. The sirih cina leaf extract improve the kidney’s color, texture, and increasing glomerular area,as well as reducing the number of proximal tubule narrowings and the amount of kidney necrosis due to exposure by cigarette smoke. The sirih cina leaf extract at a dose of 90 mg/kgBW is the best dose in improving the morphology and histology of the kidneys of mice exposed by the cigarette smoke.
