    Abstract
    Palm oil is the most widely consumed vegetable oil in the world, with consumption reaching 75.22 million tons in 2022/2023, an increase of 7.93% from the previous period. Indonesia is the largest consumer with 18.69 million tons or 24.84% of global consumption. To anticipate the increasing demand for palm oil, storage tanks are needed as temporary storage. This study designs a cylindrical tank with a capacity of 5500 tons with diameter and height ratios of 1:2, 1:1, and 2:1. The aim of this study is to find the maximum stress values for each diameter reduction and the applied loading, resulting in an optimal tank design. The results of this study indicate that the optimal design is found in the 2:1 variation with a diameter of 24 m and a height of 12.6 m, requiring 1170.6 kN of steel plates, with pressures due to impulsive hydrodynamic loads of 71.2 MPa and hydrostatic loads of 82.2 MPa. The higher the tank design, the more steel plate material is needed, the greater the total dynamic load, and the greater the hydrostatic load on the tank
