    Abstract
Soil is one of the important elements in the implementation of construction. So it is necessary to ensure that the bearing capacity of the soil is safe for the load that will be carried. The clay soil has a very low support strength and soil glide strength, and its flowering properties and water content are high. The attempt to cope with the landslide condition is through stabilization. In this study, soil stabilization was done chemically, namely by adding crab shell powder. Research was conducted to determine the impact of using crab shell powder as clay soil stabilization material, with percentages of stabilizing material of 2%, 4%, 6%, 8%, 10%, 12%, 14%, 16%, 18%, and 20% being reviewed with laboratory CBR testing and unconfined compressive strength. From the results of the research, the original soil according to the AASHTO classification, is included in the A-7-6 group, and according to the USCS classification, it is included in the CL (Clay-Low Plasticity) group, having a water content of 66.35%; specific weight of 2,684; liquid limit of 47,91%; plastic limit of 12,04% and a plasticity index of 35,87%. The unsubmerged laboratory CBR value for the original soil is 8.97%, and the unsubmerged compressive strength value for the original soil is 1.432 kg⁄cm2. The optimum CBR value occurs with a variation of 18% crab shell powder is 10.68% and the optimum free soil compressive strength value occurs with a variation of 18% crab shell powder is 2.651 kg⁄cm2
