Desain Pembangkit Listrik Tenaga Bayu Skala Mikro dengan Vertical Axis Wind Turbine Darrieus Tipe-H
Micro Scale Window Power Plant Design with Vertical Axis Wind Turbine H-Type Darrieus
Abstract
Indonesia is one of the many countries in the world that has abundant renewable energy resources. Wind is one of the renewable energy sources in Indonesia and can be used as an alternative energy source or electricity generator. The use of renewable energy sources as an alternative energy source in Indonesia is not something new. The city of Medan, in the province of North Sumatra, is the city with the fourth highest population density in Indonesia. With the population density of Medan City, almost everyone uses a cellphone and every house uses lights for their daily activities. Due to the condition, expected that energy for consuming electronic devices and lights can be taken from renewable energy, one of which is wind energy. This research aims to design and model a straight-bladed wind turbine for utilizing wind energy for micro-scale wind power plants as alternative energy in Medan Belawan District, Medan City, which has a higher average wind speed than other districts. With the average wind speed in Medan Belawan District, Medan City throughout the year being 2.5 m/s, a Wind Turbine can be designed that suits these conditions, namely a Darrieus rotor type H-type vertical Wind Turbine which is suitable for areas with low wind speeds and wind direction always changed. Based on the design results, the turbine diameter is 3.36 m and the turbine height is 2.8 m. The turbine design was simulated using CFD simulation twice, the first using Solidworks software, producing a torque of 45.28 Nm with an average mechanical power of 168.48 Watts and an average electrical power of 134.78 Watts. Second, the Ansys Fluent software produces a torque of 47.25 Nm with an average mechanical power of 175.77 Watts and an average electrical power of 140.61 Watts
