This thesis is entitled The Use of Ulos as Talitali in the Toba Batak Community: A Study of Oral Traditions. This research aims to reveal the types of Ulos found in the Toba Batak community, the types of Ulos used as talitali, what the talitali looks like in the Toba Batak community, the local wisdom found in the talitali of the Toba Batak community. The theory used is the theory of oral traditions and local wisdom by Sibarani. This method is qualitative interactive. The results of this research show that: Talitali is given at any time when welcoming big guests or welcoming the King to the Toba Batak community. This talitali has the philosophy "dibutbut siling juang ni ampehon tu pangong bari jagar do simajunjung molo ni alit on Ulos gabe talitali" which means it is a sacred honor if Ulos is worn as a talitali on the head during Toba Batak traditional ceremonies. From the results of this research, there are local wisdom values originating from Ulos as talitali, namely: honesty, preservation and cultural creativity. It can be concluded that the use of Ulos as talitali is a spiritual value with a sacred value and not just anyone uses it, because it is a form of bond of love, meaning that Ulos symbolizes brotherhood in a bond of love.
