    Abstract
School principals have an important role in the world of education because they must be actively involved in the teaching and learning process at school. A person's involvement with their work is called work engagement. Work engagement is really needed by school principals so that they are able to overcome issues related to school facilities, lack of teaching staff and demands for achievement. However, along with their duties and responsibilities as school principals, they also have other roles and responsibilities in their personal lives so that at the same time school principals must also strive for a balance between work and personal life. This research uses quantitative research methods involving 275 respondents as research samples throughout Indonesia. The sampling technique in this research used accidental sampling. The data collection method uses a Likert scale consisting of the Utrecht Work Engagement Scale (UWES) version 9 by Schaufeli (2006) and the Work Life Balance Scale version 17 by Fisher (2009). The analysis method in this research is simple linear regression. The results of the study show that work life balance has a positive influence on work engagement with the result thitung 3.153 with a significance value of 0.002 < 0.05 with an R square value of 0.477 indicating that work life balance has an influence of 47.7% on work engagement while there is 52.3% influence from other variables not examined in this research. The majority of subjects in this study were in the high category, work engagement of 98.9% and work life balance of 72%.
