dc.description.abstract | Caries is the most common dental problem experienced by people. Caries that
reaches the pulp or reaches the de ntin but after excavation causes the pulp to be
exposed, direct pulp capping is required. Apart from calcium hydroxide as the gold
standard material, calcium phosphate compounds can also be used as pulp capping
materials which can be extracted from fish bo nes. This study aims to determine the
differences in odontoblast cell layers and dentinal bridge formation between pore fish
bone calcium phosphate paste and calcium hydroxide. The type of research carried
out was an in vivo experiment on Wistar rats with the research design being a post
test only control group design. The samples in this study were 25 maxillary molar
teeth of Wistar rats which were divided into 5 experimental groups and observed for
30 days. The data obtained was processed using the Kruska l Wallis test then
continued with Mann Whitney. The results of the study showed that there were
significant differences in the formation of the odontoblast cell layer and dentinal
bridge between pora pora fish bone calcium phosphate paste and calcium hydro xide.
Calcium hydroxide shows better results compared to calcium phosphate paste with
concentrations of 25%, 50%, 75%. Paste with 75% concentration can stimulate the
formation of odontoblast cell layer and dentinal bridge , but it is not perfect and pastes
with 25% and 50% concentration cannot form odontoblast cell laye r and dentinal
