An ideal cavity cleanser must have a low level of toxicity, be biocompatible, have antibacterial capabilities, be able to remove the smear layer, and be able to inhibit the matrix metalloproteinase enzyme. The aim of this research was to determine the effect of 2% nanochitosan oligosaccharide gel as a cavity cleanser on dentin resin attachment to ethanol-water solvent adhesives using dry and wet-bonding techniques. This study used 24 upper premolars with class one restorations and divided them into four treatment groups, namely the 2% nanochitosan oligosaccharide gel group using dry-bonding and wet-bonding techniques; and 2% chlorhexidine digluconate group using dry-bonding and wet-bonding techniques. Observation and measurement of microleakage was carried out by looking at the penetration of 2% methylene blue dye into samples, cut mesio-distally through a stereomicroscope with 1x magnification and given a score of 0-3. The results of observing microleakage show the mean and standard deviation values for group 1 (0.330.516), group 2 (1.001.095), group 3 (1.671.211), and group 4 (2.000.894). In the results of the Kruskal Wallis test, p=0.034 was obtained, which showed that there was a significant difference between the four treatment groups (p<0.05).
