Pengembangan Pariwisata Medan Zoo dalam Meningkatkan Kunjungan Wisatawan

Abstract

The development of tourism is an effort carried out to improve or increase a product or increase the type of tourist products with the aim of increasing the number of tourist visits. Medan Zoo as one of the Zoos in Sumatra belonging to the government in it there are many problems, one of which is the provision of tourism facilities and poor animal facilities and Medan Zoo has not yet established cooperation with the Investor so that this causes a decrease in the number of tourist visits in Medan Zoo. The aim of Medan Zoo's tourism development is to improve and increase existing facilities with the aim of increasing tourist visits. This study aims to analyze the development of Medan Zoo's tourism in improving tourist visits. The research method used in this study is descriptive research with a qualitative approach. Data collection conducted through interview, observation and documentation techniques. Qualitative analysis data using development indicators from Sugiama (2014: 72) which include three indicators, namely, Attraction (Attraction), Aminuteies (supporting Facilities), Ancilliary (Supporting Services), and Accesibility (Accessibility). The results of this study indicate that the development of Medan Zoo's tourism has carried out several gradual developments such as the Veterinary Agency, making photo spots, improve tourism facilities, improve Zoo area roads, develop attractions, and promote promotion or dissemination of excitement within Medan Zoo via social media Instagram and Tiktok. However, in this case there are still several obstacles in the development of Medan Zoo tourism, such as the limitations of funds and Medan Zoo have not collaborated with Investors. So in this case, to accelerate the development in Medan Zoo, both in terms of tourism facilities and animal facilities need cooperation with the Investor.
