dc.description.abstract | Rice is a food crop that produces rice which is a source of energy for the Indonesian people. The development of gogo rice is an important alternative for increasing national rice production, because expanding rice fields is increasingly difficult due to land conversion for development. This research aims to characterize, determine the advantages and disadvantages of the morphological and agronomic characters and the relationships of 19 upland rice cultivars from Padang Lawas Regency. This research aims to characterize, determine the advantages and disadvantages of the morphological and agronomic characters and the relationships of 19 gogo rice cultivars from Padang Lawas Regency. This research was carried out at the Green House of the Faculty of Agriculture, University of North Sumatra at an altitude of ± 25 meters above sea level from May to December 2023. This research was carried out using an experimental method without a design, namely by deliberately taking samples of 3 sample plants/cultivars. Character identification was carried out using the 2003 translation of the rice plant characterization and evaluation system for rice. The results of the research showed that the morpho-agronomic characters of the 19 local gogo rice cultivars had diverse characteristics and the same in both qualitative and quantitative characters. Local gogo rice cultivars introduced from Padang Lawas Regency have superior characteristics such as upright stem angles in the Sibara Putih and Sidogor cultivars, upright leaf angles in the Sibara Putih and Sidogor cultivars, long grain length in the Sibahopotali cultivar, and wide criteria in grain width in the 15 cultivars, the number of productive tillers on criteria is very large on 15 cultivars, the total number of tillers on criteria is very large on all cultivars, the weight of 1000 grains is heavy on 7 cultivar and the color of the rice husk is the red criterion in the Sibayur and Sibara cultivars. The Silumutpaon and Sibobo cultivars are similar in 29 parameters out of 43 parameters and the Santapan Godang and Sidogor cultivars are similar in 26 parameters out of 43 qualitative and quantitative parameters, the Sijangkar Durian cultivar is the cultivar that has the furthest level of similarity with the other 18 cultivars. | en_US |
