Kebutuhan dan Ketersediaan Air di Wilayah Kecamatan Tarutung Kabupaten Tapanuli Utara

Abstract

Water is one of the basic needs to support human life. As the years go by, the population in Tarutung District increases, so water users will definitely increase. This research aims to determine the need and availability of water needed by the community and to find out strategies for controlling and utilizing water in Tarutung District, North Tapanuli Regency until 2032. The method used in this research is a qualitative descriptive method. In this research, collecting the necessary data and direct survey of water sources to determine the availability of water sources and SWOT analysis for water control and utilization strategies. From the research results, it was found that water demand in Tarutung sub-district, North Tapanuli Regency reached 2,200,315.47 M3/yr (fit for drinking) and 45,096,480.00 M3/yr (not fit for drinking) and water availability was obtained through examining springs, surface water, ground water and rainfall data, amounting to 124,345,172.16 M3/Year. This shows that, in the current conditions, Tarutung District is able to meet its water needs with its water resources until 2032. It is found that at the location of the water source there is widespread clearing of trees/forests by certain parties which has the potential to result in reduced water availability, a policy is needed government, issued by the regional government (Perbup) regarding the protection of water sources, and accommodating the management of water use by the community so that it can teach the community about the need for community awareness initiatives, and strict forest area management. This research contributes valuable insights to water resources management, by emphasizing the need for proactive measures to maintain water abundance in Tarutung District.
