Career decision making is an activity or behavior to make career decisions. These activities and behaviors are formed by processes that are based on knowledge about the self as well as on external information, and are chosen consciously. A student can make good career decisions supported by good interpersonal communication with the guidance and counseling teacher. Interpersonal communication is a process of conveying messages, information, ideas or notions carried out by the communicator to the communicant to establish a relationship with the ultimate goal being that the communicant provides a response or feedback. This research aims to determine the relationship between students' perceptions of interpersonal communication between guidance and counseling teachers and students with career decision making at SMAN 1 Berastagi students with a sample of 301 students collected using theoretical sampling techniques. The measuring instrument used in this research was prepared by researchers based on DeVito's interpersonal communication theory and Tiedeman's career decision making. Data were analyzed using the Pearson Product Moment test. Based on data analysis, the obtained coefficient (rxy) = 0.931 with a significance of p < 0.05 means that there is a positive relationship between students' perceptions of interpersonal communication between guidance and counseling teachers and students and career decision making among students at SMAN 1 Berastagi.
