dc.description.abstractThis study discusses the problems of the Family Planning Program in Medan City in 1972- 1998 and its influence on population control in Medan. The purpose of this study is to explain the planning, development process, and impact of the Family Planning Program in Medan City in 1972-1998 using the theory Malthusian put forward by Thomas Robert Maltus. This research uses historical methods consisting of heuristic, source criticism, interpretation, and historiography. The results obtained in this study show that the implementation of Family Planning in Medan City from 1967-2000 can be said to be successful and has a positive influence, especially as a result of the implementation of the National Family Planning program starting in 1970. This can be seen through the description of the participation of the people of Medan City in institutionalizing and cultivating the Family Planning program and the number of Family Planning participants which tends to increase every year and period. In addition, the most important influence of the implementation of the Family Planning program is the change for the better in the population dynamics in Medan City on the demographic aspeen_US
