Penjadwalan Produksi Menggunakan Metode Palmer pada PT Sinar Utama Jaya Abadi

Abstract

Delays in completing production are a problem in a company due to the production scheduling system. Scheduling is needed by a company to increase productivity by reducing idle time during the production process. PT Sinar Utama Jaya Abadi is a shoe manufacturing company in Indonesia with shoe brands produced by the company, namely Adidas, Nike, Ecco, and Mizuno. The current problem with the company is that there is a company delay in producing goods using the company's current scheduling method, namely the FCFS (First Come First Serve) method. Therefore, a new production scheduling is needed for the company using the Palmer method in order to solve the problem of production delays in the company. Scheduling using the Palmer method will produce a new scheduling order based on the slope index value for each job, a larger slope index value will be prioritized in job sequencing. The aim of this research is to calculate the makespan for each brand using the FCFS method and Palmer method, calculate the performance of the FCFS method and Palmer method for each brand, and produce a new production schedule for the company. Based on the performance between the company method and the Palmer method, using the Palmer method in production scheduling produces better performance compared to the company method so that using the Palmer method in production scheduling will get better results compared to using the FCFS method.
