    Abstract
    This research aims to describe the meaning and anthropolinguistic approach to the Melayu Deli pantun from the Lebah Begantong music group. This research is a type of qualitative descriptive research. The data collection technique used in this research is the technique of free, involved listening and taking notes. From the research results, it was found that there were three analytical ideas in the anthropolinguistic approach, namely performance, indexicality and participation in Melayu Deli pantun. The performance concept consists of text, co-text and context analysis. Text analysis on the concept of performance seen from the plot structure and micro structure. Co-text analysis which includes paralinguistics (sound), proxemics, kinesics and materials as well as context dimension analysis. The concept of indexicality is the three signs in Deli Malay pantun in the form of index, symbol and icon. The concept of participation is the involvement of the audience or listeners seen in terms of verbal and non-verbal involvement. There were 10 forms of expressive illocutionary speech acts in the chanting of Malay pantun by the Lebah Begantong music group, namely the speech act of saying thank you, the speech act of happiness or pleasure, the speech act of praising, the speech act of admiring, the speech act of sarcasm, the speech act of criticizing, the speech act of advising, the speech act of speech acts of greeting, speech acts of conveying hope and speech acts of congratulations. All data was found from various activities such as wedding entertainment events, work meetings, arts and cultural festivals and lectures/study events.
