dc.description.abstract | This study was conducted to find out the types of nominalization used in the 12 stories text by using the supportive theory of nominalization by Halliday. The types are: Quality, Process, Circumstance, Relator, and Zero. This study applied a descriptive qualitative method. The data in this study were words, clauses, and sentences. The data collection method is by conducting an online search regarding most related and famous stories. This study carried 10 sources of stories, they are from Islamic Stories, MyIslam., Ruang Sumber Belajar, Learn Quran and Arabic Centre, History of Islam, Knowing Allah, Medium (Tales Home), Quran House Online, and Esplande. The result showed that all five types suggested have been applied to the stories text. The were found 139 nominalization of process (48%) in all across the story, 85 nominalization of quality (30%), 48 nominalization of relator (17%), 11 zero nominalization (4%), and 3 nominalization of circumstance (1%) as the minority in this case. This semantic shift occurred by adding suffixes such as -ion, -ment, -ness, -sure, -ity, -ence, -ance, and -ice, or by using the article "the" and zero derivation. The researcher constructs two main patterns, they are nominalization as head and nominalization as modifier. | en_US |
