This study aims to analyze how news articles from Associated Press (AP) News, Channel News Asia, Fulcrum, Reuters, and Time portray Indonesia’s 2024 presidential candidates. Using Martin and White’s appraisal theory focused on Attitude (Affect, Judgement, and Appreciation), the research utilized Krippendorf’s methodology by conducting content analysis and the Korpus Nusantara (KORTARA) software, focusing on three presidential candidates. The research results Affect was the most common attitude element, with 47 instances, slightly more negative (24) than positive (23). Judgement followed closely, with 44 instances, mostly negative (25) compared to positive (19). Appreciation appeared less frequently but leaned towards positive sentiments, with 30 instances (18 positive and 12 negative). Channel News Asia’s article was notably comprehensive and emotionally charged, covering both positive and negative aspects. Reuters showed positive appreciation, while AP News and Fulcrum had a more critical perspective with more negative judgements. Time’s article also had negative judgements, indicating a critical stance. Additionally, AP News and Channel News Asia tend to support candidates like Prabowo and Gibran, while Fulcrum takes a more balanced approach. Reuters remains objective, and Time portrays the election as a competitive race without bias. By utilizing these attitude elements, media news outlets should strive for balanced and fair coverage in their reporting by highlighting criticisms and providing positive aspects of presidential candidates
