Abstract

Maimun Palace, Al-Mashun Grand Mosque, and Sn Dell Park in Medan are parts of the Malay cultural heritage that have historical connections. These three buildings are an inseparable unit. Maimun Palace, designed in 1898, reflects a blend of Malay, Muslim Indian. Persian, and European architectural styles. Meanwhile, the Al Mashun Grand Mosque, which is more than a hundred years old, is a strong marker of Islamic influence in Malay culture in North Sumatra. In contrast to the two well-preserved buildings, Sri Deli Park, which is also part of the complex of Masjid. Raya Al-Mashun and Istana Maimun, has experienced a decline in its role in preserving cultural heritage. The physical condition of Sri Dell Park is deteriorating and it is being forgotten

This paper aims to convey the idea of revitalising Sri Deli Park by incorporating an art market that not only functions as a commercial space but also serves as a platform for cultural education and promotion of Malay Deli culture in Medan. This paper uses literature study methods and direct observation in the area of those three sites. The design integrates Maimun Palace and Al- Mashun Grand Mosque into a one stop art market, Including cultural education activities, shops, exhibitions, workshops, and cultural festivals to revive Malay cultural heritage. It is hoped that the existence of the art market can revitalise Sri Deli Park, increasing the economic value of the area, while also promoting Malay Deli culture globally.
