dc.description.abstract | The economic downturn's devastating impact on individuals, particularly older adults, has spurred a growing nomadic movement in the United States. This study aims to analyze the hierarchy of needs and to describe how the main character fulfills the needs reflected in the Nomadland movie. This study used a descriptive qualitative method by applying Abraham Maslow's hierarchy of needs, including physiological, safety, love and belonging, self-esteem, and self-actualization needs, and using extrinsic elements. Based on the analysis conducted, Fern's journey in Nomadland illustrates her deep resilience and introspection as she navigates the challenges of a nomadic lifestyle, addressing various levels of Maslow's hierarchy of needs. Through her experiences, she fulfills her basic needs, seeks security, builds meaningful connections, gains self-esteem, and ultimately pursues self- actualization, reflecting her quest for personal growth and meaning amidst adversity. | en_US |
