    Abstract
Jangga Dolok Village is a village located in the valley of Dolok Simanuk-manuk hill, Lumban Julu Village, Toba Regency, North Sumatra Province, this village is 40 km from Balige City which is topographically located at an altitude of 2,500 meters above sea level. It has a lot of natural potential both from the richness of flora and fauna and tourist objects in the form of waterfalls that can be used as ecotourism objects as well as can be used as a habitat for various types of butterflies. The purpose of this research is to analyze the condition of butterfly habitat vegetation in the Jangga Dolok forest area and to inventory the diversity of butterfly species in the development plan of tourist attractions in the Jangga Dolok forest area. The research was conducted from November 2022 to March 2023. The results of vegetation analysis showed that the plant species identified in Jangga Dolok Village amounted to 24 tree species and 13 understorey species, with 7 of these plant species as food for butterflies. The plant diversity obtained is good enough to preserve butterflies and their environment. The types of butterflies found in the butterfly inventory activities found 26 species with a total of 137 individuals from 6 families namely Nymphalidae, Papilionidae, Satyridae, Pieridae, Geometridae, and Lycaenidae with the dominating one is from the Nymphalidae species.
