    Abstract
Samosir Regency is dominated by lithosol soil, which is a relatively young soil type. The rough texture of lithosol soil tends to make the soil very low in stability so that it is easily destroyed and causes erosion. The organic matter content of lithosol soil is even nil, considering that organic matter is a supplier of N, P, K and micro elements, so the low organic matter content in the soil makes the soil poor in these elements. The aim of this research is to determine the use of a good dose of NPK fertilizer for the growth of mango seedlings, as well as the rehabilitation of areas on the outskirts of Lake Toba. In this study, a non-factorial randomized block design (RAK) was used with 6 treatments and 1 control, namely P0 without NPK fertilizer, P1 using a 50 g NPK dose, P2 using a 100 g NPK dose, P3 using a 150 gr NPK fertilizer dose, P4 using a 200 g NPK dose, P5 using a 250 g NPK dose, P6 using a 300 g NPK dose, and in each treatment there were 5 repetitions. The results of using NPK fertilizer on mango plants (Mangifera indica L.) produced a significant effect on the number of leaves, leaf area, canopy area. When using a dose of 150 g NPK fertilizer (P3) on media given organic compost fertilizer briquettes, the growth of mango (M. indica L.) showed the best results.
