    Abstract
    Aromatic plants are plants that can emit a distinctive aroma such as perfume. The fragrant aroma comes from the essential oils produced by plants. Essential oils, known as etheric oils or flying oils, are substances that are volatile, have a bitter taste and smell similar to the plant they come from, which are taken from plant parts such as leaves, fruit, seeds, flowers, roots, rhizomes, bark. wood, even whole parts of plants. This research aims to identify types of aromatic plants that are used by communities around the area and analyze the diversity of types of aromatic plants found in the Del Institute of Technology's Special Purpose Forest Area (KHDTK) as well as analyzing secondary metabolites found in these aromatic plants. The methods used in this research are local knowledge aspects, diversity analysis, and phytochemical tests. The results of the exploration carried out revealed 10 types of aromatic plants, namely apisson, make up, haminjon, hulim, calyppus, ginger, red galangal, napuran, red shoots, and Suhul-suhul. There are 6 of them which are often used by people around the area, namely hulim, haminjon, ginger, make up, red galangal and napuran. People use the aroma of these plants more to add fragrance to their dishes. The level of diversity of aromatic plant species at the research location is low at the tree and pole level, while for saplings, seedlings and undergrowth the level of diversity is moderate. Phytochemical testing shows that a type of aromatic plant has more than one type of chemical compound.
