dc.description.abstractThis research focuses on the representation of character education values in The Animated Moana Film using Roland Barthes' semiotic theory and the foundation of educational values based on Presidential Regulation No. 87 of 2017 concerning Strengthening Character Education. This research aims to analyze how the denotations, connotations, and myths contained in The Animated Moana Film can be integrated into the representation of character education values, and also to describe the representation of character education values in The Animated Moana Film. The analytical method used is semiotic analysis to identify visual and verbal signs that reflect the values of character education, as well as document analysis to link these values with the 18 basic values of character education that have been stipulated in the Presidential Regulation. The research results found 14 meanings of denotation, connotation, and myth from the analysis of visual signs, each of which contains the value characters education, namely tolerance, hard work, creativity, democratic, independence, curiosity, national spirit, love of the motherland, appreciating achievement, friendly/ communicative, love of peace, environmental care, social care, and responsibility. Then 15 were found that showed the value of character education using verbal sign analysis, namely religious, honesty, tolerance, hard work, creativity, independence, curiosity, national spirit, love of the motherland, appreciating achievement, friendly/ communicative, love of peace, environmental care, social care, and responsibility. Based on the research results, it was concluded that there are 16 character education values in The Animated Moana Film, namely religious, honesty, tolerance, hard work, creativity, democracy, independence, curiosity, national spirit, love of the motherland, appreciating achievement, friendly/ communicative, love peace, environmental care, social care, and responsibility. This research provides a deeper understanding of how animated films can be an effective medium for conveying and encouraging the development of character education values in the audience, especially in the younger generation.en_US
