dc.description.abstractThis thesis investigates how emotions and attitudes are conveyed through language in love affair text messages, using Martin systemic functional linguistic framework. The analysis focuses on mood types and tenor's affect in selected conversations, sourced from internet-based love affair cases. Employing qualitative method with content analysis as the research design. The research finds a predominance of declarative mood types (78.26%), followed by interrogative (14.49%) and imperative (7.24%). The tenor's affect shows a significant prevalence of positive affect (84.61%) over negative affect (15.38%). The results indicate a positive emotional tone and balanced discourse between interlocutors, reflecting a mutual exchange of emotions and attitudes in these interactions.en_US
