    Abstract
Literature and culture are two interrelated elements that reflect human diversity through their literary works. This study examines the short story anthology "Mata Yang Enak Dipandang" by Ahmad Tohari using a literary anthropological approach, specifically focusing on the forms of livelihood of characters in seven short stories. The aim of this research is to describe the forms of livelihood depicted in these short stories. The methodology employed is qualitative approach with data collection techniques from primary sources, namely the short story anthology itself. Data were analyzed using qualitative analysis techniques, including data reduction, data presentation, and drawing conclusions. The analysis results reveal various forms of livelihood encountered by characters in the short stories, such as beggars, farmers, traders, and security guards, reflecting the social, economic, and cultural values within the society. The stories in the anthology depict life changes and the roles undertaken by the characters, as well as their impact on individual participation and responsibility. From blind beggars to responsible farmers, each character demonstrates unique struggles and dynamics in their livelihoods. This analysis provides a deep understanding of the complexity of life and livelihoods across various societal layers.
