    Abstract
    This thesis is entitled: "Mukul in the Karo Batak Ethnicity: A Study of Oral Traditions". Mukul is also called persadaan tendi (uniting the spirits) between the bride and groom through eating together with the medium of manuk sangkep. The aim of writing this thesis is to describe the performance of text, co-text, and context in the mukul and describe the values and norms in the mukul. In this thesis, the method used is a descriptive qualitative method. The theory used in this thesis is the theory of oral tradition by Robert Sibarani, namely that oral tradition is the tendency of a region to pass down history through conversation from one descendant to another, and oral tradition includes a cultural tradition that is passed down "from mouth to ear". From one generation to the next. Based on the research results, there are text performances, namely verbal text and non-verbal text in mukul, co-text performance in mukul there are 4 co-text elements, namely paralinguistic elements, kinetic elements, proxemic elements and material elements, and context performance, namely socio-cultural context, the situational context and ideological context contained in mukul, there are also functions and meanings in mukul and there are 7 values, namely the value of honesty, the value of social solidarity, the value of commitment, the value of positive thinking, the value of hard work, the value of discipline, and the value of mutual cooperation.
