    Abstract
This thesis is entitled Turi-Turian Ultop Si Jonaha, Toba Batak Ethnicity: A Sociological Study of Literature. This research aims to describe the intrinsic elements and sociological values of literature contained in Turi-Turian Ultop Si Jonaha. The theory used is the theory of literary sociology. The method used in the research is a descriptive qualitative method. The results obtained from this research are: (1) the intrinsic elements that exist in Jonaha's ultop turi-turian, namely: (1) the main theme of deceit and cunning which is manifested through Jonaha's character, who uses his cunning to manipulate other people for personal gain. (2) The storyline progresses chronologically, starting from the introduction of the characters to reaching the climax with the magic chopsticks incident, and ending with a resolution that emphasizes the main theme. (3) The story's diverse settings, such as Jonaha's house, gambling ring, and forest, provide context for plot and character development. (4) Characters such as Jonaha, Jonaha's wife, Parenggabulu, and Sobur display internal conflicts that enrich the narrative. (5) third-person omniscient point of view, allowing for a deep understanding of the complexity of the characters and the overall storyline. (6) The message of this story also shows that Jonaha's intelligence and thinking strategies can help him deal with difficult situations, although in a way that is not always ethical. However, Jonaha's experience also reminds us of the negative consequences of lying, which can ultimately destroy trust and social relationships. In addition, sociological analysis of literature highlights the social values, idea value systems, and social cultural equipment in Toba Batak society which are reflected in the stories.
