dc.description.abstractFinal semester students are individuals who are in early adulthood. One of the developmental tasks of early adulthood is to choose and prepare for a career in facing the transition from school to the world of work so that career adaptability is needed. Achieving career adaptability requires the ability to recognize self-feelings, self-motivation, and manage emotions called emotional intelligence. The purpose of this study was to determine the role of emotional intelligence on career adaptability in final semester students at the University of North Sumatra. The number of respondents in this study were 261 students obtained through accidental sampling technique. The measuring instrument used in this study is an emotional intelligence scale modified from the emotional intelligence scale by Chairunisa (2023) and a career adaptability scale used from the career adaptability scale by Efivania (2023). The results of simple linear regression analysis show a significance value of 0.000 (Sig. <0.05) and a value of r = 0.334 which means that there is a positive relationship between emotional intelligence and student career adaptability and a value of r square = 0.111 which means that emotional intelligence provides a role of 11.1% to the career adaptability of final semester students at the University of North Sumatera.en_US
