The Impact of School Climate on Students’ Emotional Control in Indonesia: Analysis of Pisa 2022 Data
Abstract
Adolescence is a period of significant change that requires individuals to develop emotional intelligence to deal with the pressures of learning and social relationships, and prevent negative behaviors. Emotional intelligence, particularly emotional control, plays an important role in adolescents' psychological well-being and adaptive behavior. School climate as one of the main predictors that can support the development of emotional control in adolescents through a positive school climate. This study is a quantitative research with secondary data that aims to determine the role of school climate along with its indicators on emotional control in students in Indonesia based on the dataset provided by PISA 2022. The sample in this study amounted to 13,439 students spread across Indonesia with stratified proportional random sampling techniques that have been determined by secondary data. Analysis of the role of school climate on emotional control in students in Indonesia was carried out using multiple linear analysis tests. Based on the results of data analysis obtained sig.<0.05 value which indicates that the school climate plays a significant role on emotional control in students in Indonesia. Indicators of sense of belonging, being bullied, feeling safe have a sig value. <0.05, which means that these three indicators partially play a role in emotional control in students. Meanwhile, the school safety risk indicator has a sig value. > 0.05, which means that school safety risk does not play a role in emotional control in students in Indonesia.
