    Abstract
This research provides an analysis of abbreviations in Final Fantasy XIV Online, aiming to identify and describe the types of abbreviations used and formation process involved. This research focuses on analyzing the types of abbreviations and defining the formation process within the game’s language. The methodology used in this research is descriptive analysis, with data collection conducted through observation and tapping to write. The theoretical framework used in this research is based on linguistic’s morphology theory. The analysis is carried out by identifying the type of ryakugo through a process of shortening, achieved by removing parts of syllables or selecting only one letter from the beginning of the word. The formation process is analyzed by comparing the word before and after shortening, focusing on identifying which syllables have been omitted to abbreviate the word. The findings reveal that out of 50 words examined, 44 are abridgements, 6 are acronyms. Subsequently, this research identifies 6 out of 7 abbreviation formation processes, 3 words for front abbreviations type, 17 words for posteriori abbreviations type, 3 words for middle part abbreviations type, 20 words for component short abbreviations type, 6 words for alphabet abbreviations type, 1 word for simplifications from long terms to short terms type. In addition, no sign of abbreviations that uses apostrophes after the analysis.
