UMKM Square is a project designed to support the development of Micro, Small, and Medium
Enterprises at the University of North Sumatra, Medan. This project adopts a green architecture
approach with the aim of creating a sustainable and environmentally friendly environment. The
green architecture approach is implemented through the use of eco-friendly materials, efficient
energy management, and the integration of green spaces in the building design. The results of this
study indicate that the application of green architecture principles in the design of UMKM Square
not only has a positive impact on the environment but also enhances the comfort and productivity
of MSME actors. Additionally, the implementation of green design also contributes to reducing
building operational costs through energy efficiency and proper waste management. The design
of UMKM Square with a green architecture approach can serve as a model for the development
of similar facilities in other regions and provide a tangible example of how sustainability
principles can be integrated into the development of educational and commercial infrastructure.
