This research focuses on optimizing the LEACH algorithm in wireless sensor networks. The problem addressed in this study is the energy consumption imbalance across all clusters in the Wireless Sensor Network (WSN), leading to reduced battery life and ultimately affecting network performance. Another issue is the selection of cluster heads based solely on probability, making it difficult to balance network performance, coupled with computational limitations that require LEACH algorithm optimization to maintain efficiency. In the LEACH algorithm, cluster heads are selected based on probability values without considering distance and energy factors at each sensor node. Modifications will be made by incorporating distance and remaining energy factors into the cluster head selection process, aiming to enhance network performance. The improved network performance includes network lifetime, network stability, average energy consumption, network throughput, and end-to-end delay. This research introduces novelty by proposing modifications to the LEACH algorithm to enhance network performance and extend battery life, making it applicable for wireless sensor networks in the context of natural disaster mitigation.
